Salaam: Muslim & Christian Friends is a community of international students and a part of InterVarsity, a registered student organization at Moorpark College. We welcome people from all nations and backgrounds for events and discussions about the things that matter most in life. We hope we can become part of your international family while you study in the US!

Zoom GatheringsGame nights, movie nights, sharing culture (eating!!) are just some of the experienced that can bring students together and develop friendships across faiths. We had a great joint game with the Moorpark MSA in December! Lots of laughs! We look forward to organizing future events in collaboration with MSA this Spring. We look forward to a time when we can meet in person. Until then, we'll Zoom away!

Muslims & Christians sharing a meal & real conversation. This is just one way that we build relationships across faiths and get to know one another in a deeper way! Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will not be meeting in person to meet at this time, but we can't wait until we can do so. In the meantime, we are offering VIRTUAL Peace Feasts. Our goal is to invite Muslims and Christians as people of faith to have good, spiritual discussion that deepens relationships and helps us seek God individually and together.

Church/Mosque VisitsHave Christian students ever been to a mosque? Likewise, have Muslim students ever been to a church? What better way to explore a place of worship than to go with someone from that faith? This is the time to observe, learn, and ask questions. We look forward to when this type of gathering will be permitted!

Izza I have attended some comparative sessions about the stories in the Bible and the Qur'an. Those sessions allowed me discuss what I already know and yet, learn something new. Furthermore, the comparative analysis enlightens me to see the different visions of the same story and the similarities within each story. More importantly, the discussion took place in a respectful way. It also gave me a chance to meet new people and to be able to discuss with them their analysis and interpretations of the stories. |
